All About Me
I am Dina Vander Wilt. This will be my twenty-fifth year of teaching. This is my sixteenth year at L.B. Williams. I am originally from Sioux Center, IA, but have had the opportunity to teach in many different places in South Dakota because of my husband’s job. I graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education in 1997. I finished my Reading Endorsement in 2004. In May 2007, I graduated with my Masters in Education. I was honored as the 2018 Technology and Innovation in Education K12 Teacher Award. In March I was nominated as the Mitchell School District Teacher of the Year and then honored as 1 of 5 South Dakota Regional Teachers of the Year. I believe that I need to continue to stay up to date on all current teaching strategies and research so that I can provide your child with an excellent education.
My husband works for the Natural Resources Conservation Service in the South Dakota State office in Huron as the Assistant State Conservationist. We have four children. I have a junior in college, a junior in high school, a seventh grader and a 4 year old..
When I am not teaching, I like to scrapbook and spend time with my family. I thoroughly love teaching and think that it is the best job in the world. This is a dream come true for me. I am so happy that I will be spending time with your child.
I will be sending home a newsletter every week via Seesaw and your child’s S.T.A.R (Student Taking Academic Responsibility) folder will be sent home every Friday. It will contain your child’s work and important notices. Please return this folder to school every Monday. Please put any notes for me, lunch money, book orders, etc. in this folder, too.
My classroom is always open. You are welcome to come visit anytime. If you ever have any concerns or questions, please ask. You can email me at [email protected]. This will be an exciting year. I can’t wait!!
